[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon City announced on the 12th that it will provide one thermal imaging camera capable of measuring body temperature to 42 elementary, middle, and high schools within the city and Suwon First Lifelong Learning School.
The thermal imaging cameras will be installed at the entrances of each school building by the 23rd. Upon completion of installation, all elementary, middle, and high schools (199 schools) and special and lifelong learning schools (4 schools) in Suwon City will operate thermal imaging cameras.
The infrared thermal imaging cameras provided by the city are ‘all-in-one’ type with simple operation. Body temperature can be confirmed immediately after facial recognition. It also has alarm functions for fever detection and mask-wearing status. Being easier to operate than separated-type cameras, it can be managed with minimal personnel.
The city has been supporting schools with COVID-19 response measures to ensure students can receive education safely.
On April 10th ahead of online classes, the city provided 200 tablet PCs to the Suwon Education Support Office to help students who lack smart devices and have difficulty participating in ‘online classes’.
Additionally, ahead of school reopening, the city distributed 328,406 masks to students of elementary, middle, and high schools and special and lifelong learning school students for use upon returning to school.
When suspected patients occur at schools, rapid transfer of suspected patients and disinfection of school premises are carried out according to the Ministry of Education’s ‘Student Infectious Disease Prevention and Crisis Response Manual’ and the ‘Joint Response Agreement of Relevant Agencies for COVID-19 Response During School In-person Classes’ signed in May by Suwon City, Suwon Education Support Office, Suwon Fire Department, and Suwon South Fire Department.
Meanwhile, Suwon First Lifelong Learning School is an institution that provides literacy education, GED preparation programs, alternative education for out-of-school youth, and education for multicultural residents, targeting seniors.
