[Suwon Ilbo=Correspondent Seo Dong-young] Osan City announced on the 29th that Mayor Kwak Sang-wook has been elected as co-chair of the 'Mokminwan Club' for the latter half of the seventh elected term.
The Mokminwan Club is a gathering for voluntary cooperation, research, and communication among local government heads to achieve sustainable regional development and grassroots democracy. Currently, 62 local government bodies across the nation participate, operating to achieve 'paradigm shift in local government administration', 'recovery of regional community spirit and accumulation of social capital', and 'strengthening local government roles through cooperative governance and autonomous innovation'.
Mayor Kwak Sang-wook said, "The Mokminwan Club is not merely a forum to acquire fragmentary administrative techniques, but ultimately a gathering where we can obtain blueprints and new ideas for sustainable regional development," and added, "We will share excellent policies with other local governments and endeavor to create differentiated policies unique to Osan based on them."
In addition to the Mokminwan Club, Mayor Kwak serves as chairman of the Democratic Party's National Basic Local Government Heads Council, chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Mayors and Governors Council, and chairman of the Innovative Education Local Government Council.
