Suwon City-Suwon Office of Education Vow to Cooperate on "Suwon Future Education Cooperation District"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon City and Suwon Office of Education joined hands to smoothly promote the "Suwon Future Education Cooperation District project."

Suwon Mayor Lee Jaejun and Education Director Hwang Yun-gyu of Suwon Office of Education, who was delegated authority by the Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education, signed a "Business agreement for Suwon Future Education Cooperation District project" at the situation room of Suwon City Hall on the 13th and pledged cooperation. The signing ceremony was attended by officials from Suwon City, Suwon Office of Education, Suwon Youth Foundation, and members of the Culture, Sports and Education Committee of Suwon City Council.

According to the agreement, the two institutions decided to actively cooperate for the smooth implementation of detailed projects of the 2023 Suwon Future Education Cooperation District.

The "Future Education Cooperation District" is a region designated by agreement between Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and local governments to create a "community of local education" where schools and local communities actively communicate and cooperate. Gyeonggi Province Office of Education changed the name of "Innovation Education District" to "Future Education Cooperation District" last September.

The 2023 Suwon Future Education Cooperation District implementation goals are: "Implementing educational autonomy through strengthened autonomy of community education members (autonomy)," "Eliminating educational disparities based on educational cooperation between schools and local communities (balance)," and "Practicing region-customized future education for cultivating glocal convergence talents."

The project will implement 19 detailed projects including △School education support with Suwon Special City △Music School with one instrument per student △Global multicultural specialized schools △Supporting after-school activities with dreams △Suwon-style learning center △Operation of civil-government-academic local education council (Suwon Innovation Education Forum) △Operation of Future Education Cooperation Support Center (One-Click System) △Treasure hunting in parks △Our school's environmental story.

Suwon Mayor Lee Jaejun said, "Based on the values of autonomy, balance, and future, we will cultivate local talents capable of responding to future society," and added, "We will actively cooperate with the Suwon Office of Education and Suwon Youth Foundation to efficiently operate the Suwon Future Education Cooperation District."
