Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun: "Let the Overpopulation Restriction Zone Municipalities Collaboration Council Speak with One Voice and Pool Efforts to Improve Regulations"

[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Special Metropolitan City Mayor Lee Jae-jun urged, "Let the Overpopulation Restriction Zone Municipalities Collaboration Council speak with one voice and pool efforts to improve regulations."

At the 2024 First Regular Meeting of the Overpopulation Restriction Zone Municipalities Collaboration Council held on the 26th at the Poil Eul-rim Center Grand Hall in Uiwang City, Chairman Lee Jae-jun said, "First, let us resolve the most urgent issue of heavy taxation in the overpopulation restriction zone tax laws, and then pool our efforts step by step toward overpopulation restriction zone readjustment and amendment of the revision law."

He continued, "If 12 local governments pool their efforts, even the monumental Metropolitan Regulation Planning Act enacted in 1982 can be improved," and added, "Until that day comes, let our council play a central coordinating role."

The meeting was attended by mayors and vice mayors from 12 municipalities in the overpopulation restriction zone, including Suwon City.

The 12 cities designated as overpopulation restriction zones under the Metropolitan Regulation Planning Act established the Overpopulation Restriction Zone Municipalities Collaboration Council last November.

The meeting proceeded with a research task presentation by Yang Eun-soon, director of the Urban Management Research Division at the Suwon City Policy Research Institute, on the topic of "Capital Region Regulatory Relief Issues and Implementation Methods," followed by deliberation of agenda items.
