Ganghwa County 'CCTV Integrated Control Center' New Construction Project Progressing Smoothly

[Suwon Ilbo = Reporter Choi Ki-ho] Ganghwa County announced on the 16th that the 'CCTV Integrated Control Center' new construction project, which is being promoted to further strengthen the safety of county residents, is progressing as planned.

Currently in the detailed design phase, the design will be completed in July, construction will commence in August, with a target for completion in the second half of 2025, accelerating the project timeline.

The newly constructed integrated control center will be built on a 707-square-meter site in Gwancheon-ri 170-10, Ganghwa-eup, with a total project investment of 11.7 billion won, featuring a 5-story structure with a total floor area of 1,734 square meters.

The center will be equipped with CCTV control rooms, equipment rooms, office facilities, break rooms, and disaster/safety situation rooms. An observation room for visitors to view the control room, which serves as a 24-hour guardian of county residents' safety, will also be installed.

Ganghwa County's CCTV Integrated Control Center, which opened in 2016 and has been operating 24 hours without interruption for the past 8 years, now faces an urgent need for facility expansion. This is due to the continuously increasing demand for CCTVs, resulting in insufficient space for equipment expansion such as servers and video storage devices.

The current integrated control center links approximately 1,760 CCTVs. Breaking down by purpose: 825 units for crime prevention, 96 units for disaster/emergency response, 307 units for village/parking lot surveillance, 105 units for cultural property protection, and 228 units for park surveillance. A total of 19 police officers and control personnel work in shifts to monitor 24 hours continuously, safeguarding county residents' safety.

The county is implementing a crime prevention CCTV installation and performance improvement project in 115 locations with approximately 290 units using approximately 1.2 billion won in budget this year.

Acting County Administrator Yoon Do-young stated, "The CCTV Integrated Control Center is playing a crucial role as a sentinel for county residents' safety, preventing various incidents, accidents, and crimes/fires," adding, "Through swift project implementation, we will make efforts to create a Ganghwa County with no crime blind spots."
