Icheon City Government News Letter 'Icheon News' Wins Korea Communications Award for Three Consecutive Years

[Suwon Ilbo=Eom In-yong Reporter] Icheon City's government news letter 'Icheon News' won an award for the third consecutive year at the 'Korea Communications Award' on the 21st.

'Icheon News' received the 'Excellence Award' in the planning and design category at the '2024 Korea Communications Award' ceremony held at the Korea Press Center International Conference Hall. It previously won the Excellence Award in 2022 and the Special Award last year.

The Korea Communications Award is organized by the Korea PR Association and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Employment and Labor. It is the nation's only annual award recognizing communication and journalism media published by government agencies and public and private enterprises.

Published in booklet form, Icheon News provides a variety of content including vivid city government news and practical living information. It received high praise for its excellent planning and editing featuring visually striking photography and design tailored to monthly concepts, while expressing city government news and policies through appropriate infographics, illustrations, and photographs to boost readership.

Additionally, the publication scored highly for its fixed column 'Creative People,' which introduces local cultural and artistic figures, and a corner introducing the lives and work of local small business owners, both utilizing QR codes to allow readers to meet the subjects through videos.

Meanwhile, the Icheon News is distributed free of charge to returnees and anyone wishing to subscribe. The publication is placed monthly at approximately 150 locations including Icheon City Hall and eup-myeon-dong administrative welfare center civil petition offices, major bus stops within Icheon, and key apartment complexes.

Icheon Mayor Kim Gyeong-hee stated, "The Icheon News letter conveys major city government news and useful information of Icheon and has maintained a broad readership over a long period," adding, "Going forward, we will operate diverse communication channels so that Icheon citizens and expatriates can understand and empathize with Icheon."
