Hwaseong Special City Achieves 1.5 Billion Won in Donations for 'Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign'

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City announced on the 4th that it has raised 1.5 billion won through the operation of the 'Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Thermometer of Love.'

The 'Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Thermometer of Love' is a campaign designed to activate a culture of sharing and help citizens in crisis achieve self-reliance.

The city, together with the Hwaseong Welfare Foundation and the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, operated the campaign for two months from late December last year through January this year under the slogan 'Make Yourself Valuable Through Giving! Make Hwaseong Valuable Through Giving!'

For two months, the city installed the 'Thermometer of Love' in the lobby of City Hall, set 1.3 billion won as the target amount, and increased the temperature by one degree each time donations were collected. By the end of January, donations totaling over 1.5 billion won were raised, achieving 120℃.

The collected donations are planned to be used for projects including 'Hope Hwaseong Emergency Welfare Project,' which is the nation's first emergency welfare project implemented by a basic local government to overcome crisis situations.

Mayor Jung Myeong-geun stated, "I am deeply grateful to all citizens who practiced neighborly love even during difficult times," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that the donations collected through this campaign are used where they are most needed."
