[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City announced on the 4th that it raised 1.5 billion won through the operation of the 'Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Love Thermometer.'

The 'Hope 2025 Sharing Campaign Love Thermometer' is a campaign designed to activate a sharing culture and help citizens in crisis achieve self-sufficiency.

The city, together with the Hwaseong City Welfare Foundation and the Gyeonggi Community Chest, operated the campaign for two months from late December last year through January under the slogan 'Make Myself Valuable Through Giving! Make Hwaseong Valuable Through Giving!'

The city installed the 'Love Thermometer' in the City Hall lobby for two months, setting a target fundraising goal of 1.3 billion won, and raised the temperature by one degree each time donations were received. By the end of January, the city achieved over 1.5 billion won in donations, reaching 120℃.

The fundraised amount will be used for the 'Hope Hwaseong Emergency Welfare Project,' a crisis-overcoming initiative and the nation's first emergency welfare project by a basic local government, among other purposes.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun said, "I am very grateful to the citizens who have practiced love for neighbors even during difficult times," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that the donations collected through this campaign are used where they are most needed."
