By applying NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, faster and more accurate emergency reporting is now possible in urgent situations, expanding the function beyond simply conveying an address to become a safety infrastructure capable of real-time response in emergencies.
This smart building number plate transmits current location information directly to police stations and fire departments by simply touching an NFC-equipped smartphone without requiring wireless Wi-Fi or app installation.
In particular, visibility and accessibility have been enhanced by applying high-luminance reflective material for white backgrounds and adding braille plates.
The city plans to sequentially begin installing the smart number plates starting in June to meet demand for replacing aging building number plates, with installation in major areas to be completed by year-end.
In particular, in collaboration with Osan Police Station, Osan Fire Department, and Osaekhak Market Merchants Association, the city plans to convert address information facilities within Osaekhak Market to a smart system in the second half.
The necessity of such smart number plates was highlighted by the hotel fire incident that occurred in Bucheon last August. At that time, the caller repeatedly told the building name to 119 multiple times, but the transfer of location information was delayed, leading to a situation where rescue operations were delayed. The smart building number plates being introduced by Osan City are evaluated as capable of fundamentally resolving this problem.
The city plans to expand the smart building number plate beyond a simple reporting tool to also serve as infrastructure for urban safety.
