Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon Special City, "In 2026, We Will Run Powerfully Toward Suwon's Great Transformation"

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jeong Jun-sung] Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon Special City stated, "In 2026, I will reestablish the innovation direction of all policy projects with 'citizen tangibility' as the focus and run powerfully toward Suwon's great transformation, which is our ultimate goal."

The mayor delivered the 2026 city policy address at the 397th Suwon Special City Council Regular Session No. 2 held on the 19th, stating, "The 2026 Suwon City policy direction is 'Citizen Tangibility, Suwon's Great Transformation,'" and "The three core keywords that will accelerate Suwon's great transformation are culture and tourism, cutting-edge scientific research, and citizens' lives."

The total size of Suwon City's main budget for 2026 is 3.519 trillion won, a 10.3% increase from 3.1899 trillion won in 2025.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Since the first year of the 8th civil administration through the end of this year, Suwon City has repaid nearly 230 billion won in municipal bonds and has achieved fiscal management results through savings and frugality," and "Based on fiscal achievements, the ruling party, opposition party, and government have jointly prepared citizen tangibility priority projects."

Citizen tangibility priority projects include △'Suwon Citizen Birth Support Fund,' which newly establishes support for the first child and expands support for the second child △'Adolescent Menstrual Product Support,' which supports purchase costs of menstrual products for girls aged 11-18 △'Free Transportation for Seniors,' which allows all Suwon citizens aged 70 and over to use buses for free △'Shingles Vaccination Support Project,' which provides free vaccine costs to all Suwon citizens aged 65 and over, among others.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun stated, "Citizens' response to the expansion of Suwon Pay incentives has been enthusiastic," and "I will continue to pursue the policy of expanding Suwon Pay issuance so that warmth spreads throughout the local business district."

He further added, "The direction that Suwon City Council and Suwon City are pursuing is a council and administration for better lives and happier futures for citizens," and "Since cooperation and collaboration are directly connected to changes in citizens' lives, we will continue to find solutions together and consult together on the diverse demands of citizens."
