Yongin Special City Completes 'Smart LED Landscape Lighting' Installation Project at Giheung Lake Park Walking Trail

[Suwon Ilbo=Choi Kiho Reporter] Yongin Special City announced on the 9th that it has completed the 'Smart LED Landscape Lighting Installation Project' on the walking trail of Giheung Lake Park, a citizens' recreational space.

Giheung Lake Park, one of the Eight Scenic Spots of Yongin, has become a popular destination for many citizens, attracting attention for its night lighting installed along the perimeter trail and walking paths.

The city conducted the LED landscape lighting installation project to create a safe pedestrian environment for citizens who visit the walking trail at night and to prevent accidents. The smart landscape lighting installation target section is a 260m section between the 1st and 2nd pedestrian bridges along the Giheung Lake Park walking trail.

The installed smart LED bollard lights integrate lighting functions with cutting-edge ICT technology.

The lighting fixture is equipped with a microwave detection sensor that automatically converts the lighting brightness to 100% when pedestrians on the walking trail approach within 3 meters. The lighting maintains maximum brightness while pedestrians remain within the detection range, and reduces brightness to minimum when pedestrians leave the detection range, thereby reducing nighttime power consumption.

This project, carried out as part of the strategy to promote Giheung Lake Park as a premium space, also achieved cost savings through support from the Public Procurement Service.

The total project budget is 74.96 million won. Last year, the city was selected as an 'Innovation Product Trial Use Organization' (LED landscape lighting fixtures) from the Public Procurement Service, and received support worth 39.2 million won—more than half the project budget—in innovative products (50 LED landscape lighting fixtures), bearing only 35.76 million won in electrical construction costs.
