Yongin Special City and Da Nang City of Vietnam Share Community Autonomy System Policies

On the 6th, Yongin Special City Mayor Lee Sang-il held an informal meeting with Nguyen Dinh Binh, Chairman of the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee, and explained Yongin City's community autonomy system and policies.

\r\n\r\n

This meeting was held at the request of the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee to share the operational status and experiences of Yongin Special City's community autonomy system.

\r\n\r\n

Vietnam's Fatherland Front Committee is a statutory committee that manages activities of the National Assembly and People's Congress (local parliament), evaluates policies and their effectiveness, and also undertakes social organization coordination and supervision, as well as collection of residents' complaints and social demands.

\r\n\r\n

The meeting was attended by Mayor Lee Sang-il, Jang Jeong-soon, President of the City Council, Shin Na-yeon, Chair of the City Council's Self-Government Administration Committee, and City Councilor Kang Young-woong, as well as Han Jeong-il, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang.

On the Da Nang side, Chairman Nguyen and senior officials of the Fatherland Front Committee, Nguyen Thi Tu Trang, Deputy Director of Da Nang City's Foreign Affairs Bureau, and other city officials attended.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Lee said, "Yongin Special City has maintained a friendly relationship and cooperated with Quang Nam Province in the past, and as Quang Nam Province was integrated into Da Nang City due to Vietnam's administrative restructuring, Yongin City and Da Nang City established a friendly relationship in January this year, which has expanded the horizon of exchange and cooperation. I hope that the cooperative relationship between Yongin Special City and Da Nang City, which has a population of over 3 million, will be further strengthened."

Chairman Nguyen said, "The Fatherland Front Committee not only oversees the Party Committee but also has the role of supporting residents' activities. Therefore, I hope Yongin Special City will share its experience on how it has effectively promoted community autonomy in relation to this role."

\r\n\r\n

Mayor Lee explained to Chairman Nguyen and others about Yongin Special City's resident-led village signature projects, where village residents identify and solve local agendas.

\r\n\r\n

Mayor Lee and the Yongin delegation then shared a banquet hosted by the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee and agreed to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the two cities.
