Gyeonggi Province Conducts Comprehensive Audit of Suwon City...50 Advisories, 70 Corrective Actions, 1 Recommendation

Gyeonggi Province disclosed the results of a regular consulting comprehensive audit of Suwon City conducted from July 4 to 15 on its website on the 7th.
This audit of Suwon City is the first comprehensive audit conducted in six years since 2010.
The audit intensively examined the status of major national and provincial policy projects, the implementation of large-scale construction projects in civil engineering and architecture, the handling of civil complaints directly related to residents' daily lives, and the execution of budget, goods purchases, and construction bidding.
As a result of the audit, a total of 121 administrative measures were taken: 50 advisories, 70 corrective actions, and 1 recommendation.
Additionally, 1.534 billion won was recovered or collected, and disciplinary measures were imposed on 109 individuals across 46 cases, including 7 disciplinary actions and 102 reprimands.
Major findings are as follows.
Civil servants were disciplined for completing a 'waste-to-energy solid fuel production facility' without undergoing any verification procedures such as product performance testing.
A total of 2.753 billion won was invested in this facility, but there are concerns that economic viability is unclear and the project resulted in budget waste.
From the second half of 2013 to the first half of 2015, staff members were disciplined for failing to conduct on-site safety inspections of 45 bridges in the jurisdiction and falsely entering the data into the Facilities Information Management System and the National Disaster Management Information System.
Meanwhile, the province plans to discover and disseminate best practices such as Suwon City's rain garden project to other municipalities and counties.
