Uijeongbu City Holds 'August Monthly Meeting'... Emphasizes 8·3·5 Policy

Uijeongbu City (Mayor Ahn Byung-yong) announced that it held an August monthly meeting at the grand hall of Uijeongbu City Hall at 9 a.m. on the 8th.

In his opening remarks, Mayor Ahn stated, "August 8th is the day when the greenbelt, which is the site of the Uijeongbu Complex Cultural Convergence Complex, was released and announced in the name of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, marking an important day that forms the foundation for realizing the 8·3·5 policy (a policy aimed at attracting 8 million tourists, creating 30,000 jobs, and generating 5 trillion won in economic effects)."

He continued, "Considering the unstable Northeast Asia situation due to recent North Korean provocations including ICBM test launches, I ask that you prepare the 2017 Eulji Exercise like a real combat operation and make thorough efforts in the preparation and implementation of the Eulji Exercise to protect the lives and property of citizens in all types of emergency situations."

He also encouraged the efforts of employees who have worked on recovery efforts for sister city Goesan County, which suffered damage from recent heavy rains, and urged each department to strengthen surveillance activities of facilities under their jurisdiction to prevent damage from localized heavy rains and heat waves. In particular, he asked that attention be paid to health management due to heat during the vacation season and that thorough measures be taken in designating deputy staff to ensure citizens are not inconvenienced by business vacancies during the vacation period.
