Uijeongbu City Holds "August Monthly Assembly"… Emphasizes 8·3·5 Policy

Uijeongbu City (Mayor Ahn Byeong-yong) held its August monthly assembly at 9:00 AM on the 8th in the Grand Hall of Uijeongbu City Hall.

Mayor Ahn stated in his remarks, "August 8th is the day when the green belt, which is the site of the Uijeongbu Complex Culture Convergence Complex, was lifted from designation by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. This marks an important day that lays the foundation for the realization of the 8·3·5 Policy (attracting 8 million tourists, creating 30,000 jobs, and generating 5 trillion won in economic ripple effects)."

He continued, "Given the unstable situation in Northeast Asia due to recent provocations by North Korea, including ICBM test launches, we must prepare the 2017 Eulji Drills as if for actual combat and be thorough in preparations and implementation to protect the lives and property of citizens in various emergency situations."

Additionally, he commended the efforts of staff members who worked on recovery assistance for Goesan County, a sister city that recently suffered damage from concentrated rainfall, and called for strengthening surveillance activities at facilities under each department's jurisdiction to prevent damage from localized heavy rain and extreme heat. He particularly urged attention to health management amid summer heat during the vacation season and thoroughness in designating work representatives to ensure no inconvenience to citizens due to business vacancies during the vacation period.
