[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Hong Sung-gil] A total of 34 Gyeonggi Province administrative tasks, including 10 tasks proposed by Suwon City for transfer, will be transferred to cities and counties.
Gyeonggi Province and 31 cities and counties held a Policy Cooperation Committee meeting at the Yongin Citizens Sports Park on the 18th and decided to implement and promote the transfer of Gyeonggi Province administrative tasks to cities and counties.
Among the 34 tasks, those proposed by Suwon City for transfer include ▲unification of industrial complex management authority (immediate implementation) ▲appointment of epidemiological investigators for megacities with populations of one million (promotion of legal amendment) ▲public-supported private rental housing construction and supply (promotion of legal amendment) ▲emergency disaster message approval authority (promotion of regulation amendment), and others.
Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Association of Mayors and Governors signed a "joint agreement for the realization of local autonomy" on that day and decided to cooperate from a mutually horizontal perspective to realize a nation of local autonomy. They also agreed to make joint efforts for comprehensive transfer of national administrative tasks to local governments and to proactively transfer 34 Gyeonggi Province tasks to cities and counties.
In addition, to realize fiscal decentralization, they decided to work toward improving the ratio of national and local taxes to 6:4, and to cooperate closely to minimize the financial burden on cities and counties for Gyeonggi Province policy projects and new projects.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung said, "The province and cities and counties have a relationship of cooperation, mutual respect, and trust," and added, "I will ensure that Gyeonggi Province and cities and counties become partners in a horizontal cooperative relationship." He further stated, "Gyeonggi Province will actively support the National Association of Mayors, Governors, and Heads of District Offices."
