[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City held a joint '2019 Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Drill' with related organizations on the 29th of last month at the Pyeongtaek Health Center's conference room.

The drill aims to enable swift and accurate responses by local community organizations in the event of a bioterrorism attack intended to cause societal collapse and loss of life.

A total of 36 officials from eight organizations participated, including the Gyeonggi Province Office, Gyeonggi Province Infectious Disease Management Support Group, Pyeongtaek Police Station, Pyeongtaek Fire Department, Air Force Operational Command's CBRN Support Unit, and the Health Center.

The Gyeonggi Province Infectious Disease Management Support Group conducted a discussion-style drill on each organization's response measures under a hypothetical national crisis situation caused by bioterrorism. The Pyeongtaek Health Center provided training on personal protective equipment (Level C) for initial responders and procedures for donning and doffing equipment to enhance the capabilities of initial response personnel.

An official from the Pyeongtaek Health Center stated, "Through this drill, we will strengthen organic cooperation among initial response organizations. Through sustained and systematic training in the future, we will proactively prepare for and respond to potential threats such as biological and chemical terrorism to protect citizens' lives."
