Jangan-gu Sends Out Mass Local Tax Delinquency Notices
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] On the 17th, Jangan-gu in Suwon sent out approximately 18,000 local tax delinquency notices in bulk to taxpayers with overdue payments.
Through the distribution of delinquency notices, the district aims to encourage voluntary payment. For persistent delinquents, the district plans to implement collection measures including asset seizure, public auction of seized property, and administrative penalties.
Payment methods include obtaining a tax bill and paying at any financial institution or post office nationwide, or using various methods such as virtual accounts, Wetax (www.wetax.go.kr), Internet Giro (www.giro.or.kr), and ARS (1899-7500). Even without a bill, payment can be made using a passbook or cash (credit) card at bank CD/ATM machines.
Son Hwa-jong, head of the Taxation Division at Jangan-gu, said, "If local taxes are not paid, collection measures will be taken including seizure of real estate, vehicles, and deposits, as well as public auction of seized property and restrictions on licensed businesses." He urged, "For taxpayers who have faithfully fulfilled their tax obligations but have delayed or forgotten payment due to being busy or because the amount is small, please pay attention and settle your taxes."
