[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Jangan-gu announced that it will close the Munamgol No. 2 spring located at Gwanggyosan, which has continually been ruled unfit for drinking based on water quality tests, starting the 17th of next month.

In accordance with the 'Guidelines for the Management of Communal Drinking Water Facilities,' the district conducted water quality tests and facility repairs on the Munamgol No. 2 spring at least once a month.

However, the decision to close it was made after it repeatedly received unfit-for-drinking rulings, exceeding water quality standards more than six times a year for microbial items such as total coliform groups, as well as for aesthetically influential substances such as turbidity and color.

Given the nature of the facility, where water continuously flows, it cannot be closed immediately, and since residents must be notified, the district decided to focus on advance notice of the closure for one month, from the 17th of this month to the 16th of next month.

After the closure date, the spring will be excluded from the management list, and facilities such as the drinking water piping, the water quality report board, and drinking cups will also be dismantled.

The district plans to post a banner announcing the spring's closure at the entrance to Munamgol, guiding people to use the nearby Munamgol No. 1 spring and Baengnyeonsu spring.

An official from the district said, "We will continue to carry out ongoing facility management and water quality testing at the 16 springs within the district, so that residents can use the springs safely and comfortably."
