Pyeongtaek City Opens Pyeongtaek-Style LH Youth Hope Social Housing
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City held an opening ceremony on the 22nd for "Youth Hope Social Housing," where young professionals and university students can live without bearing housing costs.
The event was attended by approximately 30 people including Mayor Jung Jang-seon of Pyeongtaek, Kim Yo-seop, head of the LH Gyeonggi Regional Division, and Lee Hyun-joo, chairman of the Pyeongtaek Regional Self-Reliance Center.
The Pyeongtaek-style Youth Hope Social Housing is a project that utilizes LH lease purchase to offer affordable housing rentals to single-person young households.
Eligible residents are unmarried, non-homeowning youth aged 19 to 29 years old whose average monthly household income is 70% or less of the previous year's average monthly household income.
The Pyeongtaek Regional Self-Reliance Social Cooperative recruited residents in March, and a total of six young people have completed lease contracts and moved in.
Additionally, the first floor of the housing will be utilized as a shared community space where programs including community projects, educational programs, and employment support services will be held.
Mayor Jung stated, "At a time when everyone is facing difficulties due to COVID-19, I hope this becomes a warm source of strength and comfort for young people, and I will do my best to ensure a stable living environment for youth going forward."
