[Suwon Ilbo=Seo Dong-young] Pyeongtaek City announced on the 31st that it will newly establish and provide a total of 100 million won in scholarships through the Pyeongtaek City Scholarship Foundation, offering 1 million won per person to university-age children of local businessowners experiencing difficulties due to COVID-19 expansion.

In response to COVID-19, the city plans to complete payment of 800 million won in scholarships—an increase of 300 million won compared to the previous year—to a total of 510 students by July, including early selection of self-reliant scholarship recipients originally scheduled for September.

The newly established scholarship targets children of local businessowners whose household income falls within Income Bracket 6 of the Korea Scholarship Foundation's financial aid criteria, and who or whose parents have resided in Pyeongtaek for one year or longer. The evaluation criteria are 80% based on income and 20% based on academic performance, with support planned for a total of 100 recipients.

Applications can be submitted to the Pyeongtaek City Scholarship Foundation from June 29 to July 10. For detailed information on application qualifications and required documents, inquire at the Pyeongtaek City Scholarship Foundation website (http://www.ptsf.or.kr) or the foundation office (031-651-5520).
