[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] The Suwon Council for Labor-Management-Government Cooperation announced on the 31st that it is pursuing a 'Regional Grand Accord' containing efforts by workers and employers in the region to work together to create a mutually beneficial workplace next month.

The Regional Grand Accord is scheduled to include a joint action agreement wherein companies protect workers' jobs and workers refrain from labor disputes and strikes as much as possible, amid the prolonged local crisis caused by COVID-19.

Furthermore, based on this, the council plans to draw up a joint declaration among labor, management, government, and civic sectors to create a mutually beneficial workplace.

Meanwhile, Suwon City has centered on the Suwon Council for Labor-Management-Government Cooperation to promote labor-management-government cooperation activities to revitalize the local economy, which has been directly impacted by COVID-19, and to resolve employment insecurity.

The city has made efforts in establishing cooperative frameworks with labor organizations and related agencies, including industry-specific councils for labor-management-government cooperation and infrastructure strengthening, as well as roundtable discussions to create construction sites free of disputes and operation of labor-management conflict SOS teams.

In particular, the city adopted a joint action statement for labor-management-government cooperation in Suwon on March 5 and promised to activate Suwon Pay and refrain from labor-management disputes.

Suwon City and the Suwon Council for Labor-Management-Government Cooperation forecast that as a result of such cooperation, a joint declaration with participation from local businesses and workers will be possible next month.

A city official stated, “The Suwon Council for Labor-Management-Government Cooperation will establish itself as a substantive local consultative body by laying the groundwork for workers and businesses in the region to coexist and prosper,” and added, “We will do our best to revitalize the local economy in crisis through policies that can be implemented in the region.”
