[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon Mayor Yom Tae-young urged, "Please do not forget that public officials are the 'last bulwark against COVID-19 prevention,' and do your best to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
On the 26th, Mayor Yom stated at the "December Expanded Executive Meeting" held at City Hall in a non-face-to-face format, "New confirmed cases have exceeded 500 for the first time in eight months (583 cases on the 25th), and COVID-19 is spreading rapidly." He emphasized, "Not only health and safety public officials, but all public officials must cooperate in quarantine efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19."
He continued, "Since the early stages of COVID-19 occurrence, our city has been actively responding by operating temporary residential facilities for COVID-19 contacts and temporary inspection facilities for overseas arrivals, minimizing community transmission." He instructed, "Continue to maintain the quarantine system and thoroughly manage confirmed case contacts, overseas arrivals, and others."
Mayor Yom stated, "Although the application period for emergency living assistance for families in crisis has been extended twice, there are still those who have not applied." He said, "Actively identify citizens facing economic difficulties and ensure they receive support."
He also instructed, "Vulnerable populations will face a harsher winter than ever," urging, "Find citizens left behind in welfare blind spots and provide proactive support." He added, "While everyone will struggle this winter, I hope we can overcome it together and welcome true spring."
