Suwon to Levy 41.6 Billion Won in Vehicle Tax for Second Half of 2020
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Suwon has levied 41.6 billion won in vehicle tax for the second half of 2020 (244,844 cases).
The vehicle tax must be paid from the 16th to the 31st of this month.
According to the ‘Vehicle Management Act,’ those who own vehicles registered or reported in Suwon as of December 1, 2020 are subject to taxation.
Vehicle owners who made annual payments in January, March, June, and September of this year are excluded from taxation.
Vehicle tax can be paid through the local tax portal site ‘Wetax (www.wetax.go.kr),’ credit cards, bank ATMs, mobile payment apps (Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, PayCo), virtual account transfers, and ARS (1899-7500).
Failure to pay vehicle tax by the deadline will result in a 3% surcharge (a heavier surcharge if the vehicle tax amount is 300,000 won or more), and the vehicle license plate may be seized.
A city official stated, “Please pay your vehicle tax by the deadline to avoid penalties and other disadvantages,” and added, “For those who have set up automatic transfers, please check your account balance and card limit. If the limit is insufficient, you must contact the relevant tax authority by the payment deadline.”
