Suwon City Council Chair Jo Seok-hwan Presents Commendation to Outstanding Volunteers of Suwon Elderly Volunteer Association
[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Seo Dong-young] Jo Seok-hwan, chair of the Suwon City Council, presented commendations on the 4th to three outstanding volunteers of the Suwon Elderly Volunteer Association at 'Eunjung Nae Restaurant' located in Omokcheon-dong, Gwonseon-gu.
The Suwon Elderly Volunteer Association is a volunteer organization established in 2015 when seven members came together. Currently, approximately 40 members are providing side dishes twice a month to about 40 elderly residents living alone across 20 neighborhoods in the district, continuing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Three members who received the commendation—Park Gyeong-suk, Park Jeong-soon, and Lee Young-soon—led the way in practicing love for neighbors through the sharing of home-cooked meals.
Chair Jo Seok-hwan said, "I express my gratitude to the volunteers who have thought of others before themselves and practiced sharing even amid the COVID-19 crisis," and added, "The Suwon City Council will also make efforts to extend warmth to marginalized neighbors and create a warm community."
