Pyeongtaek Jije and Anjung Station Districts Designated as Development Permit Restricted Areas

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Pyeongtaek City announced on the 13th that it plans to designate the Pyeongtaek Jije and Anjung Station district urban development project sites as development permit restricted areas.

The city made this decision to prevent social and economic losses from uncontrolled development in these areas. The designation will be announced on the 15th, with a restriction period of three years.

The areas to be designated by the city are Pyeongtaek Jije (area of 2,686,014 ㎡) and Anjung Station district (area of 5,187,685 ㎡). To designate these areas as development permit restricted areas, the city conducted a public opinion hearing beginning on May 25th. The designation was finalized after receiving deliberation from the Pyeongtaek City Urban Planning Committee on June 24th and following related procedures.

Meanwhile, the Jije Station area is currently undergoing related studies by Pyeongtaek Urban Corporation, with plans to finalize a development project basic plan in early 2022 and commence construction in January 2025.

The Anjung Station area will undergo a partial revision of the urban master plan beginning in the second half of this year, where a basic development concept will be reviewed. The city plans to establish a plan by early 2022, finalize it after receiving consultation from the Urban Planning Committee, and aims to commence the project in January 2025. To facilitate swift and planned development, the city will actively encourage project participation from both private and public sectors without distinction.

The city plans to make its utmost effort to ensure the successful implementation of planned development in the station districts as well as to prevent inconveniences that may arise from small-scale development projects without linked infrastructure.

Seo Chang-won, Director of the Urban Housing Department, said, "The planned development of Pyeongtaek Jije and Anjung Station districts, which serve as important hub stations for regional transportation and western and eastern residential areas, is necessary for sustainable development of Pyeongtaek City in the future. We will do our best to sufficiently gather citizens' opinions related to the project and proceed without any hitches."
