Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province Only Capital Region Official with Over 50% Positive Approval Rating

[Suwon Ilbo=Park No-hun] Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province has received the highest positive approval rating among capital region officials including those from Gyeonggi, Seoul, and Incheon.

Resident life satisfaction also ranks first among Gyeonggi Province compared to the other two metropolitan governments.

According to the "February 2023 Local Government Evaluation" released by pollster Realmeter on the 12th, Governor Kim Dong-yeon received a 58.4% positive approval rating, up 2.1 percentage points from the previous month, marking him as the only official among Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon (49.7%) and Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok (47.2%) to exceed 50% positive approval.

Notably, Governor Kim's positive approval rating increased from the previous month, while his negative rating (24.5%) declined 4.5 percentage points from the previous month (29.0%).

In the "February 2023 National Resident Life Satisfaction" survey, Gyeonggi Province scored 69.1%, Seoul 67.3%, and Incheon 54.3%, with Gyeonggi Province showing the highest resident life satisfaction among the capital region.

Gyeonggi Province's resident life satisfaction also increased 2.6 percentage points from the previous month (66.5%), while negative ratings (26.9%) declined 1.4 percentage points from the previous month (28.3%).

The sampling error for this survey by region is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, with a response rate of 4.3%.
