[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] On the 16th, Uiwang City held an opening ceremony for the 7th Community Care Center, 'Baekun Lake Community Care Center,' to create a better environment for raising children and to address gaps in elementary school care services.
The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 50 people, including Mayor Kim Sung-je of Uiwang City, Kim Hak-gi, Chairman of the Uiwang City Council, city council members, staff from Baekun Lake Elementary School and local care centers, and parents.
The Baekun Lake Community Care Center will be operated for five years by the non-profit organization 'Together.' Under the guidance of care teachers who meet elementary care qualification standards, it will provide a pleasant environment and various programs for students in need of care due to parents' dual employment.
Meanwhile, the city plans to establish three additional care centers in the Omun-dong, Naeson 2-dong, and Gocheon-dong areas in the second half of 2023.
Mayor Kim Sung-je stated, "I hope the Baekun Lake Community Care Center will become a precious place of refuge where local children can rest safely," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to provide high-quality care services to children and minimize the childcare burden on dual-income parents to make Uiwang City a place where it is good to raise children."
