[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-seong] Uiwang City announced on the 14th that it will install additional public Wi-Fi at citizen convenience facilities such as libraries and senior centers during the second half of this year.
The city has been intensively constructing public Wi-Fi at convenience facilities, cultural facilities, and parks since 2014 to reduce citizens' communication costs and bridge the digital divide.
In May of this year, eight wireless internet devices were installed at the Bugok Dokkaebi Market (Bugok Market-gil) for the convenience of citizens and merchants using traditional markets, and public Wi-Fi was additionally installed at five newly established bus stops in Cheonggyeong-dong.
The city has so far established public Wi-Fi at approximately 250 locations, plans to complete additional installations at libraries and senior centers during the second half of this year, and intends to continuously expand service coverage throughout the city in the future.
Mayor Kim Sung-je said, "We plan to densely install high-quality public Wi-Fi in citizens' daily spaces and favorite leisure spaces so that citizens can conveniently enjoy free internet anytime and anywhere," and added, "We will continue to expand public Wi-Fi services to ensure that no citizens are left behind in data access."
