[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-joon met with members of the Saebit Suwon Pocket Garden Group and said, "I hope pocket gardens become spaces where community spirit blooms."
The mayor attended the 'Saebit Suwon Pocket Garden Group Meeting Day' events held by district on the 19th-20th (Paldal-gu), 26th-27th (Jangan-gu, Yeongtong-gu, Gwonseon-gu), encouraged the members, and stated, "I will actively support residents creating pocket gardens" and "I hope you will freely cultivate them wherever your hands lead you."
The Pocket Garden Group district meeting day events were held at the Paldal Culture Center (Paldal-gu), Ilwol Arboretum Hiyeoli Hall (Jangan-gu), Gwonseon-gu Office Conference Room (Gwonseon-gu), and Yeongtong-gu Office Conference Room (Yeongtong-gu).
Members discussed the composition and operation direction of the Pocket Garden Group and explored ways to efficiently promote the pocket garden project. There was also a time for hands-on planting of seedlings in pots.
The city is promoting the pocket garden project to create 'open gardens' made together by citizens throughout the city.
Citizen communities plant flowers and trees in vacant land, unused spaces, and leftover land in villages to create gardens.

Currently, approximately 860 members are active in the group.
