[Suwon Ilbo=Eom In-yong] Guri City announced on the 26th that it will fully launch "Clean Guri Day," a civic engagement campaign, from March through November.
"Clean Guri Day" aims to conduct regular cleaning activities in vulnerable areas throughout the city to enable citizens to live in a pleasant and clean environment, establish a clean city image, and enhance citizen participation and awareness of environmental protection.
Over the past year, Guri City successfully implemented "Clean Guri Day" a total of seven times. As a result, the city collected 119.3 tons of garbage with the participation of 4,330 citizens and civic group volunteers who contributed their efforts to environmental cleanup activities.
Beginning with a spring cleaning campaign in March, the city plans to encourage active citizen participation this year and cooperate with various organizations to conduct systematic and efficient cleanup activities throughout Guri City. On "Clean Guri Day," Guri City will be divided into 190 responsibility zones, with city hall and district welfare center staff as well as 160 civic groups participating in environmental cleanup activities.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun said, "Clean Guri Day has become a meaningful day where all citizens recognize the importance of environmental protection and work together for a clean environment in Guri City, transcending simple cleanup activities," and added, "We ask for greater participation and interest in making Guri City a cleaner and better place to live."
