Pyeongtaek City and Korea National Arboretum Sign Cooperation Agreement

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Pyeongtaek City and Korea National Arboretum (Director Lim Young-seok) signed a cooperation agreement on the 14th at the External Cooperation Division of Pyeongtaek City Hall to promote mutual collaboration in the fields of gardens and forest resources.

Under the agreement signed on this day, both organizations will cooperate in △activating research on garden policy △technical review of arboretum and garden development △promoting exhibitions, education, and conservation activities to enhance biodiversity △providing operational support for exhibitions and educational programs.

Additionally, both organizations plan to pursue various collaborative projects with the goal of responding to climate change and promoting the preservation and value of forest resources.

Meanwhile, the city plans to establish a model garden to be conducted by Korea National Arboretum at the Agricultural Ecology Institute, the venue for the "2025 13th Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo" to be held from October 16 to 19.

Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jang-seon said, "Our city has a forest ratio of 16.9% with limited mountainous areas, making it a city lacking in green space ratio, and it is time we need to expand gardens and create an arboretum," adding, "We expect this cooperation agreement with Korea National Arboretum to play a major role in leaping forward as a garden city and implementing the arboretum development project."
