Hwaseong City Conducts Home Searches and Seizures of Personal Property Against Large-Scale and Habitual Tax Delinquents

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City announced on the 17th that it will intensively carry out home searches and seizures of personal property from local tax delinquents by December 5 to strengthen collection activities against large-scale and habitual delinquents and foster a culture of faithful tax payment.

This measure expands existing home searches, previously focused on delinquents within the city, to include those outside the jurisdiction. The main targets are delinquents who have defaulted on local taxes of 5 million won or more and are suspected of concealing assets or intentionally evading payment.

The city plans to conduct direct collection of seizeable assets at site such as construction equipment and high-value motorcycles, as well as conduct additional home searches to secure unclaimed checks.

In particular, the city will implement searches throughout the year regardless of residence for delinquents with the financial capacity to pay but who intentionally evade tax obligations, while continuing strong administrative sanctions including restrictions on permitted projects, departure bans, and public auctions of seized assets.

Im In-ok, head of the Collection Division, stated, “Despite difficult economic conditions, we will collect delinquent taxes through strong collection measures including home searches, public auctions of seized assets, and departure bans against large-scale and habitual delinquents to ensure stable financial operations for the city and realize tax justice.” He added, “Delinquents who intentionally evade their tax obligations will be pursued and collected until the end.”
