Hwaseong Special City Conducts Home Searches and Asset Seizures Targeting High-Value and Habitual Tax Delinquents

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Park Chan-hyuk] Hwaseong Special City announced on the 17th that it will intensively conduct home searches and seizures of movable assets targeting local tax delinquents through December 5th to strengthen collection activities against high-value and habitual tax evaders and foster a culture of honest tax payment.

This measure extends home searches, previously focused on in-city delinquents, to out-of-city delinquents as well, with the primary targets being those who have delinquent local taxes exceeding 5 million won and are determined to be concealing assets or intentionally evading payment.

The city plans to conduct direct collection of seizable assets on-site such as construction machinery and high-value motorcycles, as well as additional home searches to secure uncollected checks.

In particular, the city plans to conduct year-round searches regardless of residence against delinquents with the ability to pay but who intentionally evade tax obligations, and will continue implementing strong administrative sanctions including restrictions on licensed projects, travel bans, and public auction of seized assets.

Lim In-ok, head of the Collection Division, stated, "Despite difficult economic conditions, we will collect delinquent taxes through strong collection measures including home searches, public auctions of seized assets, and travel bans against high-value and habitual tax delinquents to ensure stable financial management of the city and realize tax justice," adding, "We will pursue and collect delinquent taxes relentlessly from those who intentionally evade their tax obligations."
