Icheon Holds '2026 Internationalization Promotion Meeting'...Launching Full-Scale Global Exchange

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Icheon City sketched out the outline for international exchange projects to be pursued this year by holding the '2026 Icheon City Internationalization Promotion Meeting' on the 3rd.

The meeting was organized to pursue systematic implementation and substantive advancement of international exchange and cooperation projects, and to explore policy directions for actively responding to changing international circumstances.

Members of the Internationalization Promotion Council and related officials attended the meeting, exchanged diverse opinions, and laid the groundwork for building diverse global networks through deliberation of projects including △French Limoges International Music Workshop △High school student exchange with Japan's Seto City △Middle school student exchange with Japan's Koka City △China Wuxi AI and Semiconductor Global Talent Development.

In particular, this year the city decided to focus on further substantializing exchanges with existing sister and friendship cities, while expanding exchange programs centered on tangible results in youth, culture, and economic sectors to increase citizen engagement.

An official from the city said, "We will actively support the projects selected through this meeting to proceed without delay," and added, "We will elevate Icheon City's international status through global exchanges involving diverse groups from youth to artists and people with disabilities."
