Guri City Conducts Field Inspection of Galmaecheon Bicycle Road Connector Bridge

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Eom In-yong] Guri City conducted a facility safety inspection on the 6th of the 'Galmaecheon Bicycle Road Connector Bridge,' a major traffic route for residents in the Galmae District.

This bridge is a composite ramen-type bicycle and pedestrian shared-use bridge measuring 42 meters in length and 4.6 meters in width, installed in the Galmae-dong 6-2 area.

The bridge was constructed to connect the existing Galmaecheon Bicycle Road with the Yongam Stream Bicycle Road in Namyangju City and to provide access to Byeolnae Station. However, since the Galmaecheon Bicycle Road is disconnected from the Yongam Stream section, citizens using bicycles to commute between Galmae-dong and Byeolnae-dong have experienced inconveniences.

In response, the city established a project promotion plan in July 2022 and conducted construction with a total budget of 1.455 billion won, including 800 million won in special adjustment grants.

Since its opening, access to Byeolnae Station for residents in the Galmae District has significantly improved, and the bridge has become established as a key living infrastructure facility in the region.

Mayor Baek Gyeong-hyun stated, "Infrastructure that citizens experience in their daily lives requires continuous inspection and management," and added, "We will concentrate city governance capabilities on creating a safe and pleasant pedestrian and bicycle environment that anyone can use with confidence."
