Gwacheon City Conducts Site Inspection of Jebiulcheon Walking Trail in Knowledge Information Town

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yu Je-sung] Gwacheon City visited the construction site of the Jebiulcheon walking trail in the Knowledge Information Town on the 19th to inspect facility conditions and safety.

This inspection was conducted ahead of the early opening of the Jebiulcheon walking trail to ensure safety, and was attended by Mayor Shin Gye-yong, Korea Land & Housing Corporation (LH), and related field experts.

The city had originally planned to open the Jebiulcheon walking trail in June at the time of Phase 2 completion; however, reflecting residents' continued requests and citizens' demand for leisure and rest spaces, the city has decided to open the walking trail early at the end of March.

Jebiulcheon is a major stream within the Knowledge Information Town, where stream maintenance and walking trail construction are currently underway. Despite the walking trail remaining unopened, users have been accessing it, raising concerns about safety accidents.

The city plans to complete necessary supplementary measures based on inspection results and then open the walking trail for citizens to use safely and conveniently.

A city official stated, "As we are pushing for early opening so citizens can use the Jebiulcheon walking trail sooner, we will do our best to secure safety and manage facilities," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to expand leisure spaces that citizens can use in their daily lives."
