Gwacheon City Conducts On-site Inspection of Jebiul Stream Walking Trail in Knowledge Information Town

[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Yu Je-sung] Gwacheon City visited the construction site of the Jebiul Stream walking trail in the Knowledge Information Town on the 19th to inspect the condition and safety of the facilities.

This inspection was conducted to ensure safety ahead of the early opening of the Jebiul Stream walking trail, with the participation of Mayor Shin Gye-yong, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and experts in related fields.

The city had originally planned to open the Jebiul Stream walking trail at the time of the second-stage completion in June. However, reflecting the continued requests from residents and the demand for leisure and rest spaces among citizens, the city decided to open the walking trail early at the end of March.

The Jebiul Stream is a major river in the Knowledge Information Town, and river maintenance and walking trail construction works are currently underway. Concerns about safety accidents have been raised as visitors are using the walking trail despite its unopened status.

The city plans to complete necessary supplementary measures based on the inspection results and then open the walking trail so that citizens can use it safely and conveniently.

A city official stated, "As we are promoting early opening so that citizens can use the Jebiul Stream walking trail more quickly, we will do our best to secure safety and manage the facilities," and added, "We will continue to expand leisure spaces that citizens can use in their daily lives."
