[Suwon Ilbo=Reporter Kim Gap-dong] Governor Choo Mi-ae of Gyeonggi Province instructed that MOUs be concluded by early October with relevant cities and counties to establish the (tentatively named) Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation and lay the groundwork for joint investment.

Governor Choo, presiding over the 3rd Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation TF strategy meeting at her office in the provincial government building on the afternoon of the 23rd, said "A policy finance platform is needed to invest stably and for the long term in future strategic industries such as semiconductors and AI, and to this end the establishment of Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation must be promoted at a brisk pace."

At the 2nd Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation TF strategy meeting held on the 20th, Governor Choo had requested that MOU agreements be concluded by the end of the year with basic local governments that are semiconductor industry hubs, including Suwon, Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, Icheon, Anseong, and Osan regarding investment in the 'Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation,' and this time she specified a concrete timeframe.

Governor Choo also demonstrated strong resolve for the establishment of Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation, saying "Even if fiscal circumstances are difficult, we cannot give up on the future."

She continued, "The existing G-Fund has played an important role in supporting small and medium-sized and venture businesses in the province, but it has had limitations in areas requiring long-term investment such as parts and materials companies and research and development firms," and emphasized support for long-term investment, saying "Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation should function as a new policy finance platform that complements these limitations and supports industrial infrastructure and corporate growth."

Meanwhile, the province formed a TF in July with the goal of launching Gyeonggi Future Investment Corporation in the second half of next year, and plans to gradually proceed with administrative procedures including deliberation on the feasibility review of institutional establishment and enactment of ordinances.
