New Public Officials Mentor Program Launched to Support Career Transition
The Gyeonggi Province Office of Education (Education Superintendent An Min-seok) operated a 'New Public Officials Mentor Team Capacity Enhancement Course' for approximately 60 mentor team members at the Jowon Government Complex of the Gyeonggi Province Office of Education on the 11th.
This training program was organized to support stable career transition of new public officials by allowing mentors to share their diverse mentoring experiences and concerns gained from field work, understand the role of mentors, and learn effective coaching techniques.
The training program was conducted based on the results of prior needs assessments with the following components: △ sharing mentoring activity cases △ coaching techniques to support mentee development △ emotional healing and stress management.
The Provincial Office of Education has been operating mentor teams for new public officials at 25 education support offices since 2025, and is supporting both job-related and emotional adaptation of new public officials through various monthly activity themes including work study, cultivation of public service values, and familiarization with local regions.
Shin Hye-seon, head of the Administrative Capacity Division at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "A mentor is a guide that connects one person's experience to another person's growth," and added, "Through this training program, we will strengthen the capacity of mentors and actively support new public officials in stably adapting to public service."
