Fire Breaks Out at Hwaseong Resource Recycling Facility... Response Level Raised to Phase 2

A fire broke out at a resource recycling facility in Hwaseong and firefighting efforts are underway.

According to the Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 16th, a fire broke out at a resource recycling facility located in Jeongnam-myeon, Hyohang-gu, Hwaseong Special City at approximately 1:58 p.m., and response level 2 was declared.

Firefighting authorities deployed 117 personnel and 39 pieces of equipment to the scene to fight the fire.

Firefighting authorities declared response level 1 at approximately 2:15 p.m., but due to the large amount of combustible materials, they upgraded the response level to level 2 at 2:29 p.m. and are focusing on fire suppression efforts.

When response level 2 is declared, firefighting resources from 8 to 11 fire stations near the accident site and 51 to 80 pieces of equipment are mobilized.

Internal personnel evacuated on their own, but one woman in her 50s sustained minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Police and firefighting authorities plan to determine the circumstances of the accident and the extent of damage once the fire is extinguished.
