Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon: "Creating a City of Diversity and Inclusion"

Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon stated, "I will create a city of diversity and inclusion, a city where migrants and long-time residents become one."

At the 18th Multicultural One Family Festival held by Suwon Metropolitan City on the 19th at Suwon Outdoor Music Theater, Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "Migrants are precious neighbors who create our future together," and added, "Your diverse cultures, languages, and traditions make Suwon shine brighter."

Hosted by Suwon City and organized by the Suwon Foreign Residents Welfare Center, the event began with a world folk costume flag parade featuring migrants from 12 countries including Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Nepal.

The Jaesuwon Expatriate Association presented a "Friend of Migrants" certificate to Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon and President Kim Mi-kyung of Suwon Metropolitan City Council.

The festival continued with a commemoration ceremony for World Day, multicultural special performances, fashion shows featuring Korean traditional attire and world folk costumes, and a special live broadcast. Multicultural booths offering experiences of world cuisines and cultures were also operated.

At the World Day commemoration ceremony, Mayor Lee Jae-jun awarded commendations to 8 foreign residents for their contributions to settlement support, while President Kim Mi-kyung presented commendations to 3 individuals recognized for their community volunteer service.
