Gyeonggi Province Launches Dedicated Teacher Protection Officers to Support Victimized Educators

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent An Min-seok) is prioritizing the protection of victimized educators in cases of educational activity violations where teachers' personal information and photos have been exposed, and is swiftly implementing necessary measures including on-site support through dedicated teacher protection officers and legal and psychological assistance.

Upon receiving a case, the dedicated teacher protection officers immediately proceed to the scene to assess the situation of the victimized educator and comprehensively identify necessary support measures.

The on-site support includes dedicated teacher protection officers composed of supervisory personnel and lawyers who work together to comprehensively review educator protection and future response measures.

In particular, the Office of Education is providing special leave and counseling and psychological therapy to help victimized educators recover psychological stability and return to educational activities, and is supporting the processing of reports on educational activity violations through deliberation by the regional teacher protection committee in accordance with relevant procedures.

Going forward, if educational activity violations are confirmed, the Office of Education plans to continue follow-up support as needed by victimized educators, including legal assistance through dedicated teacher protection officers.

Meanwhile, the 'Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education Dedicated Teacher Protection Officer Ordinance' was passed at the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly plenary session on the 18th, establishing an institutional foundation for dedicated teacher protection officers to stably perform their roles in the field.

Based on the ordinance, the Office of Education plans to further strengthen the on-site response of dedicated teacher protection officers in the event of educational activity violations, and rapidly connect victimized educators with necessary legal and psychological support, with plans to provide more thorough and systematic support from the initial occurrence of incidents through recovery of educational activities and return to daily life.
