Jangan-gu Establishes 'Job Creation Advance Base'

Preliminary candidate Park Heung-seok, who embarked on a bicycle road experience, announced on the 26th that he exchanged views with residents and discussed local issues in the area surrounding the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science site located in Imok-dong, Jangan-gu.

On that day, candidate Park said, "I will develop the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science into a green industry special zone with a bio R&D complex, making it an advance base for job creation in Jangan-gu."

He continued, "Jangan-gu has lost all its production infrastructure, with only about 3,000 manufacturing workers accounting for just 1 percent of the total population. We must actively utilize vacated sites of public institutions to revitalize the local economy," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science site is scheduled to relocate to the Jeollabuk-do region by the end of 2012 according to the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs plan.
