Living Law Lectures with Citizens
Osan City (Mayor Kwak Sang-uk) announced on the 20th that it has been operating the "Osan Citizen Law School" lectures at the City Hall Mulhyanggi Room every Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the 5th through the 26th.
The Citizen Law School, jointly promoted by Osan City, the Ministry of Justice, and the Korea Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation, operates with topics related to living law and legal affairs to prevent disadvantages arising from citizens' lack of legal knowledge through various practical law lectures and to cultivate cultural knowledge.
The Citizen Law School lectures were conducted with diverse practical law topics, including Attorney Kim Jun-hwan on the 5th and 12th with "Traffic Accidents: Why Not" and "How to Wisely Handle Civil Disputes Between Individuals," respectively, and Attorney Jung Su-kyung on the 19th with "Debts Can Be Inherited."
On the 26th, Attorney Kim Ji-hoo will conduct a lecture on "Voice Phishing Crimes Becoming Increasingly Sophisticated (How to Respond to Voice Phishing)," addressing the growing seriousness of voice phishing, which has resulted in a high number of victims in recent times.
The practical law lectures were conducted by attorneys from the Korea Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation, focusing on cases in an easy-to-understand manner, and participating citizens received clear answers to questions about legal matters they had been curious about in their daily lives.
A city official stated, "This educational program was organized as a visiting lecture by attorneys in response to the increasing demand for legal education among citizens due to the growing complexity and specialization of society," and added, "We hope that by bringing practical law, which citizens have found difficult, closer to them, it will be of great benefit to citizens' daily lives."
