Choi Gyujin: "School Meals Should Prioritize Quality Over Free Provision"

Choi Gyujin, the Saenuri Party's preliminary candidate for Suwon mayor, announced on the 8th that he will direct his policy toward improving the quality of school meals and dining environments, surpassing the focus on free provision.
The preliminary candidate visited Dongseong Middle School located in Uman-dong, Paldal-gu on that day, where he personally served meals and outlined issues and directions for development regarding school meals.
Free school meals have been an issue since the previous local elections, and in Suwon's case, the budget is approximately 70 billion won.
Gyeonggi Province Office of Education and Suwon City each share half the burden, providing support to approximately 134,600 people including children ages 3-5 in kindergartens, all grades in elementary and middle schools, and alternative schools.
Regarding this, the preliminary candidate stated, "School meals play an important function in supporting the healthy growth of future youth," and emphasized, "My consistent belief is that if we are going to provide free school meals, we should do it properly."
The preliminary candidate added, "Not only must we ensure the quality of students' meals, but improvements in the kitchen and dining environment where meals are prepared must also follow."
