Suwon Metropolitan Expansion Committee Holds Meeting for Metropolitan Administration

The 'Suwon Metropolitan Expansion Promotion Special Committee' (hereafter referred to as the Committee) under the Suwon City Council held a meeting on the 25th to discuss administrative reorganization plans for metropolitan administration among the three cities of Suwon, Hwaseong, and Osan.

At the meeting, the Committee received an activity report from the 'Suwon Metropolitan Administration Citizens' Council,' and Lee Dal-soon, Professor Emeritus at Suwon University, delivered a lecture on the theme of "Direction of Local Autonomy Development."

Yom Sang-hoon, Committee Chair, stated, "An atmosphere of mutually beneficial cooperation is being created through the promotion of joint cultural events, and we can feel a positive wind of change regarding integration. The movement by residents themselves to establish the foundation for integration is important, and we must revitalize this," adding "Institutional improvements by local government bodies are necessary for successful coexistence."

The Committee plans to convey its position regarding the introduction of special metropolitan cities through a meeting with Shim Dae-pyeong, Chair of the Local Autonomy Development Committee, on the 27th.

Meanwhile, the Committee is composed of Chair Yom Sang-hoon, and council members Han Won-chan, Park Soon-young, Shim Sang-ho, Noh Young-kwan, Lee Chul-seung, Jo Seok-hwan, Yang Min-sook, Kim Eun-su, and Yang Jin-ha.
