500 Elementary School Students Participate in '2026 Suwon Reading Golden Bell Contest' on Hangul Day

The '2026 Suwon Reading Golden Bell Contest' was held on October 9th at the Dream Gymnasium of the Suwon Youth Culture Center on Hangul Day.
The 500 elementary school students who participated in the contest gained an opportunity to enhance their reading skills and promote a culture of reading in the local community.
The competition was divided into a middle-grade division for students in grades 3 and 4, and an upper-grade division for students in grades 5 and 6. Participants tested their reading proficiency by solving problems based on ten selected books for each division.
Yoon Jae-in, a fourth-grader from Gokjeong Elementary School, won the middle-grade division, and Jo A-yoon, a fifth-grader from Gokjeong Elementary School, won the upper-grade division as the final winner. A total of 20 outstanding participants, ranked up to tenth place in each division, received awards and cultural gift certificates.
Participants created owl door bells made from used coffee grounds and salt art frames expressing pure Korean words, and visited the book exhibition and sales booths organized by the Suwon Bookstore Association.
A Suwon City official stated, "This event allowed children to share knowledge and joy gained from books on Hangul Day," and added, "We will create an environment where children naturally enjoy books and all citizens can appreciate reading in their daily lives."
The event was hosted by the Suwon Bookstore Association and Kyobo Bookstore Gwanggyo Branch, and organized by the Suwon Reading Culture Promotion Committee.
