Yangju City, which has confirmed the separation and establishment of its Education Support Office, was selected as an 'Education Innovation Pioneer District' announced by the Ministry of Education on the 3rd.

Included in 43 regions out of 130 applicant regions nationwide, it falls under Type 2 targeting border areas of the metropolitan region and has secured the momentum to advance independent educational administration infrastructure and locally tailored educational innovation.

Particularly, on the 29th of last month, the long-cherished project of separating and establishing the Yangju Education Support Office was confirmed.

With this Ministry of Education selection, Yangju will pursue an educational innovation project worth 140 billion won in total—consisting of 100 billion won in special grants and 40 billion won in municipal funds—from 2027 to 2031 over five years.

Yangju has thus far prepared to mitigate the education gap between new towns and rural and downtown areas and expand educational opportunities through linkage with local universities, building on the educational cooperation foundation constructed through the Educational Development Special Zone project.

In particular, the plan is to launch educational environment improvements that students and parents can directly feel by linking the construction of a locally tailored educational administration system through the separation and establishment of the Yangju Education Support Office with the Education Innovation Pioneer District project.

Yangju Mayor Jung Duk-young stated, "The selection as an Education Innovation Pioneer District following the separation and establishment of the Yangju Education Support Office is a meaningful achievement accomplished through citizens and the educational community joining forces for the future of Yangju education," adding "We will build Yangju as an educational city together with the Yangju Education Support Office."
