The People Power Party's Gyeonggi Provincial Committee has set a goal of securing 30 or more seats in the Gyeonggi region in the 2028 general election and has begun in earnest organizational restructuring and member mobilization through regional member education programs.

According to the People Power Party's Gyeonggi Provincial Committee on the 4th, the first session of the '2026 People Power Party Gyeonggi Provincial Committee Regional Member Education' was held at Seongnam City Hall's Onnuri Hall that afternoon.

This education program is the party's first regional relay training initiative and will take place 8 times across 4 regions through next month's 2nd, starting with Seongnam and Gwangju. The Gyeonggi Party plans to share the party's core values and policy directions with key members and strengthen the unity of regional organizations.

The first event was attended by Chairman Kim Eun-hye of the Gyeonggi Provincial Committee (Bundang-eul, Seongnam), National Assembly member Ahn Cheol-soo (Bundang-gap, Seongnam), party council chairmen Byun Hwan-bong (Sujung, Seongnam), Byun Jae-gwang (Jungwon, Seongnam), Yu Young-doo (Gwangju-gap), and Hwang Myung-joo (Gwangju-eul), and approximately 500 party members.

Chairman Kim, who delivered a lecture at the event, presented a goal of significantly expanding Gyeonggi region seats in the 2028 general election.

Chairman Kim stated, "The period during which conservative party seats in Gyeonggi Province decreased from 32 seats in 2008 to 6 seats in 2024 precisely coincides with our party's history of struggling in nationwide elections."

Indeed, the People Power Party secured only 6 out of all 60 seats in Gyeonggi Province in the 22nd general election held in 2024. With the Democratic Party of Korea securing 53 seats and the Reform Party securing 1 seat, the ruling and opposition seat gap in Gyeonggi Province widened significantly.

In response, Chairman Kim said, "We must reestablish the core conservative value of receiving fair compensation commensurate with our hard work," and emphasized, "Starting from this relay education, we will secure a majority of 60 party committees in Gyeonggi Province and create a massive wave for the 2028 general election victory and regime change from Gyeonggi Province."

In particular, she introduced a scene from the children's book "The Finest Swimmer" where small fish combine their strength to form the shape of a large fish, calling for member unity and integration.

Chairman Kim said, "While our party currently possesses limited power in the National Assembly to exercise legislative authority properly, if each and every one of us joins hands and combines the power of unity, integration, and confidence, things can change," and stated, "I will remain with all of you until the end to secure 30 or more seats in Gyeonggi Province in the upcoming general election and lay the foundation for regime change."

The lecture also included criticism of the Lee Jae-myung administration's national governance.

Chairman Kim argued that the current administration is damaging systems in four areas—criminal justice, housing, finance, and security—and emphasized the need to recover conservative core values of liberal democracy, market economy, and the Korea-U.S. alliance.

In the second lecture that followed, author Noh Jeong-tae presented the direction of youth politics under the theme "By Youth, For Youth, Youth Politics."

Author Noh explained changes in the youth voter ratio and asset structure, noting that youth should not be utilized merely as a political image or means of mobilization. In particular, he emphasized property rights and economic autonomy, calling for a role for conservative politics that can resonate with the younger generation.

National Assembly member Park Chung-kwon (Proportional Representation), the third lecturer, criticized the current administration's North Korea policy and the transfer of wartime operational control under the theme of foreign affairs and security policy. Member Park emphasized that strong deterrence and defense posture based on the Korea-U.S. alliance are necessary to respond to North Korea's military threats.

The People Power Party's Gyeonggi Provincial Committee plans to continue the remaining seven training sessions following this Seongnam and Gwangju education. Through this, it aims to expand participation among key regional party members and establish an organizational foundation in preparation for the 2028 general election.
